As Americans get excited for the upcoming Powerball drawing, they should stay wary of ongoing scams that could trick them into thinking they’ve won money.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot raised to $1.8 billion and the Lincoln Police Department in Nebraska warned the public that scammers will try and take advantage of the excitement.

“Scammers are trying to capitalize on the extra attention and hoping to lure you in with the promise of a prize,” the department said on X . “But remember, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”
