Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Corvette died and his passenger was seriously injured in a Friday night crash in Lake County.

According to FHP, the crash happened at about 10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of County Road 439 and Live Oak Ranch Road. Troopers said the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling northbound on CR-439 when it ran off the roadway to the right before going airborne and ultimately crashing into a tree. Latest Forecast

The 28-year-old Belleview man driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 29-year-old Crestview man, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
