Warren Easton’s first play from scrimmage set the tone for the rest of its game against non-district foe L.B. Landry at Pan American Stadium on Friday night.
Quarterback Carl Reed found wide receiver Kelwin White down the left sideline for a 65-yard touchdown pass with 11:41 left in the opening frame. The Eagles continued to churn out big plays en route to a 48-7 win in Week 1.
Reed finished the game with 172 yards through the air with a touchdown and an interception, and White led all receivers with 123 yards on four catches. Dylan Cain added two grabs for 23 yards.
But it was the Easton rushing attack that did the most damage, as running backs Thomas Vaughn and Terrell Surtain combined for 272 yards and six scores on the ground.
