New Albion full-back Alfie Gilchrist admits it was hard to leave Chelsea but he is eager to get going with his new club.
Gilchrist, who played against the Baggies last year while on loan at Sheffield United, was an academy graduate at Stamford Bridge and is hoping to replace Darnell Furlong at right-back following his departure to Championship rivals Ipswich.
“It was tough to leave Chelsea after being there for such a long time, but I felt like this was the right move for my career, to move on and find my way somewhere else,’’ he told WBA TV.
“I only heard about Albion’s interest a few days ago, so it’s all come around quite quickly, to be honest. I’m really excited to get going and show everyone what I can do.
