Syracuse, N.Y.— Syracuse will be without two starters in its home opener as the Orange attempts to earn its first win of the season.
Safety Devin Grant left last week’s loss against Tennessee early and never returned. After warming up Saturday, he will not play against Connecticut.
The Orange will also be without starting left tackle Trevion Mack. Mack is using a scooter for his right foot and will be replaced by transfer Naquil Betrand. A team spokesperson had no information about Mack’s injury
Fran Brown said during his Monday press conference that Betrand, backup center Joshua Miller and freshman guard Byron Washington should be entering the rotation soon. Now, Betrand is guaranteed to play Saturday.
