ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) - A man is facing several attempted murder charges after a shooting in Rocky Mount.

Rocky Mount police say they were called to a report of shots fired around 2 a.m. today in the 500 block of Clyde Street.

When officers got there, they were told that the victim had already left the area but was found a few blocks over on Peter Street.

The man had a gunshot wound and was taken to Nash UNC Health Care, where he is currently in stable condition.

After an investigation, officers arrested and charged 24-year-old Elijah Joyner in the shooting.

Warrants say Joyner was shooting at the victims from inside a home on Clyde Street as they were running away.
