The first weekend in September comes under ongoing haze from wildfire smoke, but thunderstorms also may be on the way.

The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency said in a Friday evening forecast that wildfire smoke has “reached ground level” in western King and southern Snohomish counties, leading to deteriorating air quality. Wildfires in the Olympics and Cascade ranges also could impact air quality negatively in Kitsap, Eastern King and Pierce counties through Saturday.

“Impacts could last through Saturday, before a change in the wind that should bring some clearing on Sunday,” the forecast states.

Given the forecast, the Clean Air Agency says sensitive groups should “take it easy” on outdoor activity this weekend. For timely air quality monitoring, check this 24-hour particle pollution map.
