ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Police have opened an investigation after a 1-month-old child died Saturday in northwest Albuquerque.

A spokesperson for Albuquerque police says first responders initially responded to a call of an unresponsive infant on the 7600 block of Briar Ridge Avenue NW. Attempts were made to revive the baby, but the child died at the scene.

Police detectives have been called out to the scene to begin their investigation. Updates will be provided on this developing story once more details become available.
