Toronto police have identified a woman who died after being found injured in a vehicle near High Park. Serenity Brown, 21, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Friday evening. Her death marks the city's 30th homicide of the year.
Officers responded to a call in the area of Glenlake and High Park avenues shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered Brown inside the vehicle with injuries. Paramedics transported her to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The police have not disclosed the cause of death. According to authorities, Brown had an interaction with a man shortly before officers arrived. Witnesses reported seeing the man leave the area.
Duty Inspector Errol Watson stated that investigators are canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance footage and are speaking with local residents. "At this time, we do not have any information that led to the incident," Watson said. He added that there is currently no suspect information available and appealed to the public for assistance.
