MUSKEGON, MI - The Fruitport Township Police and Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle crash and fire southeast of the city at 6:49 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Jeep SUV collided with a slower-moving commercial truck traveling northbound on U.S. 31 near Broadway Avenue, police said.

Police said the SUV driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. Driver distraction is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Fruitport units were assisted by Norton Shores Police Department and Norton Shores Fire Department.

No other information about the crash is currently available, according to Sergeant Andy Hunt with the Fruitport Township Police.
