HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) - A building on the Kansas State fairgrounds was evacuated due to a reported gas leak Saturday. The state fire marshal's office says the Cottonwood Building was evacuated due to a gas leak. Staff responded to a report of a smell of gas in the building and detected a dangerous buildup of gas in the building, which contains a food court, on their gas monitor. The Hutchinson Fire Department arrived on scene and pushed fresh air into the building to dissipate the gas. Once officials determine it is safe to enter the building, the source of the gas will be investigated and brought under control so that the building can re-open.
