CHARLOTTE — UNC football plays its first road game of the Bill Belichick era at Charlotte in Week 2 of the 2025 college football season.
The Tar Heels (0-1) and 49ers (0-1) kick off at 7 p.m. inside Jerry Richardson Stadium in a streaming-only game that can be found on ESPN+ . UNC has won 10 games in the city of Charlotte, including three in a row during the regular season.
But this will be the Tar Heels ' first game inside the Niners' stadium, which will have a seating capacity of around 18,000 for the in-state matchup. Like UNC, Charlotte has a first-year coach in Tim Albin, who led Ohio to a trio of seasons with 10-plus wins before taking the Niners' job.
Following its season-opening loss to TCU, UNC has questions at quarterback entering the Charlotte game. Gio Lopez, the Week 1 star
