WINFIELD – It took two days to finish, but Herbert Hoover completed a 35-0 football shutout of Cardinal Conference rival Winfield on Saturday at General Stadium.
Play was stopped on Friday with 7:16 to play in the third quarter after lightning forced game officials to clear the field and bleachers with the Huskies ahead 28-0. The contest was postponed until Saturday at 11 a.m., when Hoover was just as dominant at the line of scrimmage as it had been the night before.
“I’m proud of us defensively,” Huskies coach Joey Fields said. “Guys we challenged really, really improved.”
