'Surprise witness' takes the stand for the defense during a preliminary hearing in the fraud case against Valley Center foster son, Charles Von Ferdinand. The skeletal remains of his foster mom, Nadine Jett, age 65, were found buried on her ranch property in July. Her cause of death remains unknown. Von Ferdinand is charged with fraudulently taking over her estate for financial gain.
