The National Weather Service issued an updated tornado warning at 4:17 p.m. on Saturday in effect until 4:45 p.m. for Middlesex and Worcester counties.
Quarter-sized hail (1 inch) is predicted with the incoming storm.
"At 4:16 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over West Boylston, or near Shrewsbury, moving east at 40 mph," says the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
The tornado is projected to possibly affect the following locations:
Marlborough, Shrewsbury, Hudson, Westborough, Northborough, Clinton, Southborough, Lancaster, Sterling, and West Boylston around 4:20 p.m.
