Expectations for Alabama football this season seem to have been significantly recalibrated after last week’s 31-17 loss at Florida State.

The Crimson Tide came into the season projected to return to the College Football Playoff after a one-year absence and was viewed as one of the teams likely to challenge for the SEC championship. But judging by reactions from the panel of experts on SEC Nation Saturday, those projections have disappeared.

Host Laura Rutledge asked panelists Paul Finebaum, Roman Harper, Jordan Rodgers and Tim Tebow one-by-one if they thought Alabama is still a playoff team following its first season-opening loss since 2001 and the stunning lack of effort the Crimson Tide appeared to show vs. the Seminoles.

Finebaum replied simply, “no.”
