It is said the patron saint of Santa Fe preached his sermons to animals.

But in the shadow of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi Saturday morning, some were not keen to listen to human voices.

Clad in a daffodil tutu and a T-shirt, 1-year old Labrador Lola zoomed around her owner, taking far more interest in the many animals around her than in her human counterpart’s attempts to calm the excitement.

Upon seeing Lola’s energy, Chihuahua sisters Urelia and Aura were quick to match it, running circles around each other and twirling their leashes into a helix that took their owner considerable effort to uncoil.
