Harlem is scoring too fast.

“We’re a pretty dynamic bunch,” Harlem coach Jim Morrow said after the Huskies beat Auburn 28-6 on four touchdowns that averaged 56 yards on Saturday, Sept. 6. “Now, we have to get that dynamic bunch to play consistently.”

Morrow wasn’t thrilled that Harlem (2-0) had a total of only three first downs on its first four drives against Auburn (0-2).

“My mentality is, let’s put together those 12-play or 18-play drives,” he said.

Still, he knows that is nitpicking. Harlem is starting to look like Belvidere North’s main challenger for the NIC-10 title — even more so than last year’s co-champion Hononegah — because of sophomore quarterback Braxton Fausett being surrounded by breakaway running back Dwayne Broom and explosive receivers Jackson Cook and Lebron McClell
