Week 1 revealed one significant observation: that the transfer portal, preparation and experience are the most important factors early in the season. Schools that have rosters with 70 or more new players, do not have the practice time to develop chemistry on the field. The players may be stronger, faster and more athletic than ever but the play on the field does not reflect that. Defensively, there are many missed tackles, broken coverages and missed assignments.
