Ishare the concern expressed in the recent letter about the challenges facing seniors, veterans, and others living in manufactured home communities. Representing owners of manufactured housing communities, I can assure you that the issue is complex and deserves much more consideration than a blanket solution like government-imposed rent caps.

Manufactured housing communities are not the windfall some believe them to be. Operating and maintaining these communities involves significant, increasing, and somewhat unpredictable costs—property taxes, insurance, infrastructure repairs (roads, water, sewer systems), utility upgrades, compliance with ever-evolving regulations, and staff wages. These costs don’t stay flat with the Consumer Price Index (CPI); in fact, they often rise faster.
