BOZEMAN — The Montana State football team is hosting South Dakota State at Bobcat Stadium for the 18th annual Gold Rush game.

MSU (0-1) is ranked No. 3 and SDSU (1-0) is No. 2 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25. This is the second-ever matchup — and first since 1984 — in Bozeman between top-three teams in the national FCS polls.

The Bobcats opened their season with a 59-13 loss at Oregon (ranked No. 6 in the FBS) last Saturday. The Jackrabbits beat Sacramento State (No. 18 in the FCS) the same day in Brookings, South Dakota.

MSU has a 16-1 record in the nearly two-decade history of Gold Rush, the team's home opener in which players wear gold jerseys and fans in attendance wear gold shirts. That lone loss came when SDSU visited in 2017 .
