A 13-year-old boy was arrested in Pierce County early Saturday, suspected of making plans for a school shooting and acquiring weapons to carry it out.

The Pierce County sheriff’s office said in a news release that deputies received a report on Friday that a teenager was making threats to kill and stating that he had access to firearms.

The sheriff’s office and SWAT arrested the teen at his home around 1 a.m. Saturday in the Parkland area. They found a “large quantity of firearms,” as well as clothing and loaded magazines with “school shooter writings,” the news release said. Police also confiscated “writings that would support a typical mass shooting scenario.”
