After losing the series opener to the Chicago White Sox in somewhat dispiriting fashion Friday night, the Tigers leaned on their ace to restore some order Saturday.
And lefty Tarik Skubal, facing the South Siders for the first time this year, took care of business.
He blanked the White Sox over seven innings and the Tigers breezed to a 6-0 victory before a crowd of 32,115 at Comerica Park. The loss ends Chicago's six-game winning streak.
It was also the Tigers' 16th shutout of the season, tying the Pirates for the most in the major leagues.
Skubal, with his 12th scoreless start of at least six innings this season, padded the franchise record he established in his previous start.
