EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (BLACK AND GOLD NATION) - On the eve of the Steelers’ season-opener against the Jets, Pittsburgh and Cam Heyward are agreeing to an adjusted contract for the 2025 season. Heyward can earn $3 million in incentives this season, which will allow him to earn upwards of $18 million this year.
The 36-year-old’s incentives are tied to the playoffs and success in the postseason, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
When asked if he would play against the Jets earlier this week, Heyward said “we’ll see.” The captain did tell the media that he was preparing as if he would play.
Heyward’s hold-in came as a surprise after he signed a two-year, $29 million extension last year. He felt like he was underpaid after an All-Pro season last year.
