BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Plans are in motion to convert the former Holiday Inn hotel in downtown Bridgeport into affordable housing.

Connecticut Housing Partners and the Connecticut Department of Housing announced this week that they officially purchased the nine-story building at 1070 Main St.

DOH provided $22 million to create 97 new units that will be affordable for Bridgeport residents.

CHP is a nonprofit, privately held affordable housing developer that has been committed to advancing innovative and affordable housing solutions for more than 35 years.

Those leading the organization consider the redevelopment project to be a key milestone in the effort to provide safe, stable and affordable housing for members of the workforce, seniors, veterans and low-income individuals.
