WRENSHALL, Minn. — An 11-year-old girl died after she was struck by a pickup truck while riding her bicycle Friday evening in northern Minnesota.
According to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, the girl was riding her bicycle near the intersection of Broadway Street & Crestwood Drive in Wrenshall, Minnesota, when a pickup truck struck her shortly after 5 p.m. Friday.
The initial call was made by an off-duty officer, who officials say began rendering aid to the child. The girl was transported to Children's Hospital for treatment, but on Saturday, the sheriff's office said she died of her injuries. The girl has been identified as Avery Anderson from Wrenshall.
Authorities say the driver of the truck was cooperative and didn't show any signs of impairment.
