Homicide suspected after woman’s body found in Auburn park

AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - Auburn police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman’s body was found at Kiesel Park.

Police reported that officers responded to a call at the park in the 500 block of Chadwick Lane Saturday afternoon regarding a deceased person. Authorities found the victim, who was only identified as a 59-year-old woman, in a wooded area of the park.

Officials said the victim had injuries that indicated her death was caused by an assault.

Investigators noted that a red Ford F-150 was discovered missing from an area near the crime scene. The vehicle appears to have a Lee County, Alabama license plate.

Kiesel Park will remain closed at least through Sunday while police conduct the initial phase of the investigation.
