CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Sal Stewart’s dad, Salvador, was a long-time basketball coach. As a result, Sal spent a lot of time at the gym when he was a little kid.
When Sal was two years old, he chased after a loose ball so aggressively that he tripped and fell face first into the bleachers. Salvador had to call his wife and said, “Meet me at the hospital.” Sal ended up with a broken nose.
Two years later, Sal was in the bleachers at a game and went after a ball. He went over the rail and ended up with a Band-Aid and a black eye.
There was a bigger problem: Sal’s birthday was the next day. When he got home that night, Salvador told Sal to wait to tell mom until the morning.
“When he woke up, it wasn’t good,” Salvador said.
Sal Stewart has had the same personality since he was a little kid.
