CORVALLIS — Oregon State football starts its season 0-2 for the first time since 2020 off the back of a forgettable performance by the special teams units and some preventable offensive penalties.
With the help of five botched snaps on special teams and nine offensive penalties, what went wrong for the Beavers was simply too much to overcome.
“Today was a calamity of self-inflicted wounds that we just couldn’t recover from,” OSU head coach Trent Bray said.
Despite this, there were positive performances around the field from the Beavers. Quarterback Maalik Murphy took a leap forward in confidence and quality by completing 31 of 48 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Anthony Hankerson returned to form with 136 yards on 25 carries.
