With 60 new players on the roster, Tulane remains a work in progress. The ingredients for a huge season are there, but the reality of modern college football is teams don’t really find out what they are made of in early September. Running backs Zuberi Mobley and Javin Gordon were impressive, and Jake Retzlaff made some critical throws, but the passing game was inconsistent. The defense was dominant in the second and third quarters but struggled early and late, needing an interception by Javion White on a two-point conversion with 59 seconds left to hold on.
