PHOENIX — One person died in a crash on State Route 74 in north Phoenix Saturday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Crews responded to the two-vehicle crash just after 7 p.m.

DPS said the crash happened when a vehicle traveling westbound tried to pass another vehicle using eastbound lanes. The vehicle attempting to make the pass lost control and collided head-on with another vehicle traveling eastbound. The vehicle traveling eastbound overturned during the crash, and the driver was killed.

State Route 74 in north Phoenix is now fully reopened after a crash, according to information from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
