PHOENIX — Thursday was the hottest August day ever recorded in Phoenix, with a high of 118!
The extreme heat warning continues for one more day through Friday, however we will not set a record high in Phoenix on Friday. We're aiming for 113. Up in the high country Flagstaff and Sedona are looking to tie record highs on Friday.
The extreme heat warning will be over just in time for the weekend but it will still stay very hot with highs in the 110-111 range.
Arizona’s higher terrain will get daily chances for monsoon storms for at least the next week. The biggest threats right now are gusty winds and dry lightning which is bringing on critical wildfire weather.
