PHOENIX — A large police presence can be seen Friday morning in a neighborhood near downtown Phoenix as officers conduct a homicide investigation.

12News is seeing several police officers conducting an investigation at a residence located in the area of 19th Avenue and Grant Street, east of Interstate 17. Part of the roadway has been blocked off with police tape.

Phoenix police said officers responded at about 4 a.m. to a call of a man who allegedly killed a woman inside his residence. Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a woman deceased in the home and she had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Police said the male suspect was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released. He will be booked into jail.
