OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — It's that time of year again for hummingbirds, and maybe you've seen more of them in your backyard! It's migration season in Oklahoma.
You may have taken a video of hummingbirds eating nectar in your backyard with their wings moving thousands of beats per minute.
As the weather begins to cool and the fall breeze enters the air, hummingbirds are staying in the warmth and heading south for the winter.
Oklahoma is positioned in the United States that is the perfect spot for the birds to pass through.
"Because it stays warmer into the fall than it does in the northern states, there's still food here a little bit later in the year. So we're just the perfect place for them to come through on their way to Mexico," said Dr. Emily Geest, a Conservation Scientist at the Ok
