GRAND FORKS — Jerry Kaminski walked into Bill Snyder Family Stadium for his first start as a college football quarterback and engineered five touchdown drives against Kansas State.
The UND sophomore started his first game in the Alerus Center on Saturday night and made it clear to the home fans that the Fighting Hawks coaching staff made the correct decision in naming him starting quarterback after a competitive battle for the job.
Kaminski threw four touchdown passes, ran for a fifth score and only had to work one drive in the second half as UND blew out Portland State 50-20.
Yes, it's only two games into the season and big challenges await — like next week's trip to Montana.
But Kaminski has looked like a quarterback in complete control.
He's making good decisions. He has thrown fiv
