A motorcyclist was killed Saturday during a crash with a box truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9:45 a.m. Saturday on the southbound freeway just north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was later identified by the Medical Examiner’s office as 35-year-old Andrew Morcos. His city of residence was not available.

A Sigalert was issued at 10:01 a.m. closing four lanes of the southbound freeway, just south of Fourth Street, for at least 90 minutes. It was extended for an additional 90 minutes at 10:40 a.m., but the No. 4 lane was reopened.
