MANHATTAN — Avery Johnson sat on the bike, trying to keep his legs warm, for much of the second half, hoping he'd have the chance to help his team and keep his defense off the field.

He and the rest of the Wildcats' offense watched Army time and time again convert on a third- or fourth-down. Even after Army scored a touchdown to take the lead late in the third, Kansas State returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, keeping the offense on the sideline.

Army followed with a 13-play drive that resulted in a field goal , and then recovered an onside kick, setting up a drive for a go-ahead touchdown.
