SPOKANE, Wash. – The “Step to Remember” event honored the bravery and legacy of those who lost their lives on 9/11. Participants climbed 110 flights of stairs, either at home or using stair-stepper machines, to pay tribute to the emergency crews who scaled the Twin Towers to rescue victims.
The event was hosted by the Guardians Protection Project. Co-founder Matt Costello shared why this cause is significant to him.
“This all started 4 years ago but 5 years ago now I lost a partner in the line of duty and I watched what his wife went through and wanted to help that transition a little to be able to help those families,” he said. “The best I can come up with is combine something with 9-11, raise some money, and get it to those families.”
