INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was critically injured in a shooting on Indy's east side Sunday morning.
According to IMPD, around 1 a.m. Sept. 7, officers responded to a report of a person shot at a BP gas station in the 5400 block of East 16th Street , near North Ritter and Emerson avenues.
When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a man in the backseat of his car with gunshot wounds in the legs. He is reported to be in critical condition.
It's unclear what led up to this shooting.
Police are still trying to figure out why the victim was in the back seat, if someone drove him to the gas station and who potential suspects could be.
