TWO nurses have died after being hit by a car as they tried to rescue an injured kangaroo.
Close friends Sarala Khadka and Areeza Suwal were on their way to a 30th birthday party when they were fatally run over on a freeway in Melbourne, Australia.
The pair stopped to help an injured kangaroo when they were struck by a car that couldn’t see them in the dark.
The nurses had worked together at Alfred Hospital and were described as inseparable.
They were travelling to Areeza's birthday celebrations at the time of the deadly accident.
Sarala had sent her best friend a touching birthday message on social media just hours before the pair died.
