The national weather agency has issued a thunderstorm warning for the West Midlands with heavy rain and hail expected.

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning which includes Warwickshire , Worcestershire and Herefordshire to the south of the region.

It is set to hit on Sunday morning between 8am and 12noon on Sunday (September 7).

There will be a risk of ‘sudden flooding’ which could impact driving conditions and a chance of power cuts too.

The weather forecasters said: “A band of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move north across the area.

“It will give one to hours of intense rain before clearing northwards. Some places could receive 30 to 40mm of rain in this time, along with a risk of frequent lightning and hail.”
