Thunderstorm warning issued across South West with 'intense rain'
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in effect across the South West this morning (Sunday, September 7).
Heavy rain and thunderstorms will move northwards across the region throughout the morning, according to the Met Office.
There will be one or two hours of intense rain before clearing to move away from the region.
Some places could receive between 30 and 40 millimetres of rain in this time, which also has a risk of frequent lightning and hail.
Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and parts of Devon and Dorset are subject to the weather warning.
The warning, which came into effect shortly after 8am, will last until 12pm.
