Alzheimer’s affects more than 7 million Americans — but not all communities equally. Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations face higher risks and often lack access to early diagnosis and culturally appropriate care.

The CDC’s Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act is key to addressing these disparities. The requested $35 million will help public health departments implement the 2024 Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map, including outreach, early detection and caregiver support tailored to diverse communities.

Scientific research is also essential to understanding and closing these gaps.
