Kyle Smith of Roseville loves salad.

Not because it’s good for you but because he had a hand in growing the lettuce and that makes it good for him.

“Everyone here helped to plant the seeds in the garden,” said Eden Bosca, a direct support professional referring to Smith and several other adults with disabilities who were enjoying their day at Dutton Farm .

“I’m helping it grow,” Smith said, while gripping the spray nozzle on a garden hose.

Bosca was there to support him, but one could tell by his prideful smile he was handling the task just fine on his own. Smith is one of many adults who participate in the programs that are offered at Dutton Farm in Sterling Heights and Rochester Hills, both operated by a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to empowering adults with disabilitie
