OCEANA COUNTY, MI - A large, indoor athletic facility is being built in a West Michigan farming community, gearing up to serve families locally and from surrounding counties.
The Tiger Athletic Community Center, aptly named after the Shelby Township High School Tigers, is meant to fill a need for people in rural communities that have to drive far in the winter for indoor athletics.
The 65,000-square-foot indoor sports and community facility is under construction and is expected to be open by late February 2026. It is directly adjacent to the new Shelby Township Community Park.
Group classes, exercise groups, travel sports and tournaments are expected to be the function of the facility, attracting people from Ludington, Muskegon and beyond, according to Richard Raffaelli, Shelby Townshi
