VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (Virginia MOCA) has been reaccredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition a museum can receive.

Virginia MOCA has held accreditation since 2010 and underwent a rigorous process to maintain its status, including a year-long self-study, a site visit by peer reviewers and a final review by AAM’s Accreditation Commission. Only about 1,100 of the nation’s 33,000 museums are currently accredited, with Virginia MOCA among just 58 in Virginia.
