A 38-year-old woman is dead and a 30-year-old man has been charged with her murder, the Essex District Attorney's Office said Sunday.

Lynn police received a call shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning and responded to an address on Newhall Street where they found a Lynn woman dead inside, the attorney general's office said. The victim's name is not being released pending notification of family.

The defendant, who is also from Lynn, is expected to be arraigned in Lynn District Court on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation by Lynn and state police and the chief medical examiner's office.

No additional details are expected to be released on Sunday, the attorney general's office said.
