TEMPE, Ariz. — One person has died after a crash involving multiple vehicles in Tempe, according to authorities.

The Tempe Police Department said the three-vehicle crash was at the intersection of Rural Road and University Drive.

The crash happened when a driver didn't stop at a red traffic light at the intersection, and then they hit another car. This caused a third car, which had a green light, to also be hit. The driver crashed into the Einstein Bros nearby, police said.

"The driver that caused the car accident was arrested for driving under the influence," police said.

Three people were taken to the hospital after the crash. One of the people died at the hospital, police said.
