SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Village performance venue The Local is set to host nearly 30 music and arts performances from around the world this fall, an announcement said.
Located at 16 John St., the venue is housed in a former Dutch chapel built in the 1870s. The space first opened its doors in 2023.
Beginning Friday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m., the season kicks off with the Saami Brothers and Ustad Naseeruddin Saami performing khayal, an 800-year devotional music form from Pakistan rooted in Sufism. The next day, Saturday, Sept. 20, also at 8 p.m., will feature an evening of jazz, with Beacon-raised Zohar and Adam and Friends taking the stage.
A free book reading and discussion comes to the venue Sunday, Sept. 21, with Fatemeh Jamalpour reading from her new book, “For the Sun After Long Nights.” It’s
