I’d like to draw attention to a potentially dangerous situation on Broadway in Kingston.

Despite having a bike lane now, which some bicyclists use, many other bikes and e-bikes come speeding down the sidewalk on the other side of the street. Not sure why they don’t use the bike lane. Maybe it feels unsafe to them? But the problem is when pulling out of a parking lot, especially when there’s another building blocking visibility, I’ve had many a near collision with a bike or e-bike that bursts into vision just as I’m crossing the sidewalk in my car.

Not sure what can be done to discourage bikes on the sidewalk. Perhaps signage or fines. Any price will be better than another bike fatality.
